Baby Alivia *Lifestlye Session*

World, meet sweet Alivia. Six weeks new and perfect in every way.

I can't describe what an honor it is to be welcomed into the home of a family with a newborn. I walk into a new fresh time in a parents life. A time when every thing their precious baby does is brand new and fascinating. I remember what that was like with my own children. I could look at their tiny features for the longest time and never get bored of them... now I get to capture that for other parents who understand that exact feeling so completely.

Jenne, Robert + pups.

Jenne, Robert + pups.

Can we bring our dogs? YES! Absolutely! In fact, can I sneak your Beagle, Zoey, into my bag and take her home with me?!?!

I can't even tell you how much I enjoyed Jenne Anne and Robert's session. It was playful and laid back. Both things I love in a shoot, complete with the sweetest fur-babies to go along with it. Watching them interact with their dogs was so much fun. I even got ALL THREE pups look at the camera at the same time! >pats self on the back< Actually, as much as I'd love to pretend I'm the dog whisperer they were very well behaved. And considering I can barely whistle... OK I can't whistle worth a darn....that made my job easy!

I'd say that was a pretty perfect way to complete an amazing year. :)

Remembering my roots.

Remembering my roots.

Confession: when I first got my camera I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. None. I knew I had a deep love of photography. I knew I wanted to be good someday. Really good. And I knew that there was only one way that was going to happen. By having an ever growing thirst for knowledge. I took a few classes and in the beginning really struggled with even some of the basics. My first college professor told me to think of photography as painting with light. After that something clicked. To this day I learn best with gear in hand and every now and then I grab my camera and set out on a creative shoot. It gives me the chance to explore and try new things. Try. Fail. Try again. And AGAIN. Blossom.

I am so fortunate to have had people who nurture that thirst. Sarah is one of those people. She "gets it." See Sarah is an entrepreneur herself. Her passion and drive came together this year when she opened her beautiful hot yoga studio - Vinyasa Fit (take a peek inside).  It seemed only natural to contact her about getting together for a fun and creative shoot. The result was a gorgeous light bathed session on a rolling hillside.

Thank you Sarah for allowing me the opportunity to get back to the roots of what I love. The reason I first started.... a simple love of painting with light.
