Sometimes all the dominos line up and two people meet who otherwise never would have crossed paths. These two have a story like that. The way they met, it was like it was meant to be and I can see why. Stefanie and Ryan seem to simply fit. Laughter comes easy to these two. They are so sweet to watch together. I think that their session gave me a pretty good glimpse into who they are and what their wedding will be like. I cannot wait.
On their anniversary weekend Joel lined up a series of surprised for Olivia to celebrate beginning with the biggest... He was going to ask her to marry him on her favorite creekside trail. Soon after I arrived I got the text from Joel that they were on the way. Then I heard her laugh carry on the breeze. You see the thing about Olivia is she has the most amazing laugh. It's the kind that makes everyone around her fill with joy and laugh along. The kind that I can still hear while looking at these photos of the two of them. <3 I was already grinning from ear to ear when they turned the corner for Joel's gift to her of a "mini session."
Erica and Dylan's engagement session was just perfect! They are already the cutest, then they went and upped that by bringing along Frankie, their lovable doggie with a winning personality. After chatting about location and wardrobe ideas we decided on downtown Prescott and a more formal look. I adore it! Such a classy look in a classic part of town. This was one of those session where we simply went where our feet lead us. We wandered from location to location enjoying the warm spring light, gentle breeze and abundant laughter. I wish I could have blogged all the photos but then this would be impossibly long!
I can't even begin to tell you how much I am looking forward to their wedding at Capital Canyon Club next year. Congrats on your engagement Erica and Dylan!
This session was pretty neat for several reasons. Not only are April and Richard great people, but this was the first time either of them have had professional photos done! In fact they have hardly any photos of the two of them together at all! Being able to show them and the world the love they have for each other was so wonderful.
Despite the crazy weather we had been having they were both willing to go on a little hike down into the Granite Dells. The sky was so beautiful which totally made hopping from rock to rock to find the perfect spot worth it. I adore how these two giggled through their session. Laughter in photographs is the BEST! It brings out something inside that can't be faked.
Looking forward to thier wedding at the Capital Canyon Club in August. It is going to be so lovely!
Rainey and Tyler's engagement session in the aspens of Flagstaff had a romantic winter feeling that makes me want to grab my favorite throw blanket, snuggle up with a cup of hot coco and swoon! These two are nothing short of adorable! They found all the warmth the needed in each others arms. Surrounded by tall white aspens that stretched for the sky in an effort to soak up the last rays of daylight, we found our own little corner of the mountain. There Tyler added their initials into a young aspen. I'd like to think that one day they'll return and search for that tree. By then it will be old and strong, just like their love.
It was 5:30 am and still dark outside when I walked to my car, hopped in and turned the key. I couldn't wait to watch the sunrise over the Arizona desert. What was going to make it even better was that two incredible people were visiting all the way from Seattle, WA. This morning they were going to get the chance to get the photos they were not able to on their wedding day.
One year ago Jake and Sam got married in beautiful Sedona in the pouring rain. Literally. They stood outside with loved ones huddled under umbrellas and said "I do" in the middle of one of the rainiest monsoon days I'd seen all year. Although we managed to sneak in a few photos in between downpours, I always felt like they deserved more.
A warm sun kissed the horizon as we pulled over along side the road and quickly crossed the dirt road. We stood there for a moment, just watching. It was breathtaking. Then we tiptoed through the cactus (walking through cholla covered ground in sandals made for quite the adventure) to the perfect back lit spot. I'm so thankful that we decided last minute to fit in an anniversary session during their visit because Jake and Sam have such a fun love. I adore these two and I hope that it's not the last time I get them in front of my lens!
"The hunt is over" for Erin and James! They are getting married next summer in Chino Valley but we thought we would mix it up with a change in scenery by heading to Sedona for their engagement session. I had a great time walking creek side with these two at Sedona's Red Rock Crossing. Their cozy flannels and camo perfectly suited who these two are. They were right at home out in nature. Even though the area was filled with tourists (its that time of year after all) you would never know it. It was like they were all alone, lost in world all their own.
This. session. Oh how much I LOVE it! What I love most about this session was that Jessica and Colt made it their own. Even though they both had previously admitted to not being super comfortable in front of the camera we were able to capture authentic smiles and laughs because they took it as a chance to have fun in front of the camera. To do something that they normally wouldn't, but would enjoy. After meeting up we decided that the perfect spot to shoot was on historic Mt. Vernon in Prescott. So we eagerly hopped in this beautiful classic car, turned a few heads and cruised a couple blocks over where we parked in front of a gorgeous Victorian. From the very first shot I knew this was going to be a great shoot. It most definitely was!
What a lovely way to spend Saturday evening. Bathed in gorgeous light and with good company. I haven't known Tuesday and Erick long but I can say I adore these two! They have a quiet love. The kind that doesn't need to be shouted from a mountain top, but instead softly wraps them in warmth. I could see it while watching them walk together in a far stretching field. I could see it in her light touches on his arm and hear it in the way he makes her laugh. A love like that I could photograph forever and never tire of it.
I am so excited to be shooting their wedding in June. Summer, hurry up already because it sounds like it is going to be amazing! Thoughtfully planned out with gorgeous details and an awesome couple! I think yes!
Oh goodness! This session is the best part of living where I do. It's horse country! In a world of over the top and "Pinterest-perfect" this session brought me back to simple, pure, good-ness. Briana and Jeremy invited me to their home for their engagement session. I got to meet Cheyenne and Cinnamon as well as their three pups (which cracked me up the entire time). In some of the photos you can see their first home in the background. I know one day they will look back and remember that house and all the memories it holds. And it will fill their hearts with so much love. This is who they are. This is where it begins...
Every time I head north on Hwy 89 to visit my folks in Kingman, I look to my right and think to myself I need to explore my own backyard more. The surrounding area of my town is beautiful in such a unique way. There are fields of tall, dry grass, small rolling hills and Little Thumb Butte popping out from the flat landscape. Simple and peaceful. Liz and Daniel's engagement session on the state land not too far from their home gave me that chance.
Once we got out there, they dropped the tailgate of their pickup and let their two dogs run free. I LOVE that they brought their dogs with them! Dime (ever the worrier) and Birdie (100 miles an hour when he was going slow) made us laugh out loud more times than I could count! In between playing with their fur babies and watching the sun drop low in the sky came the most beautiful moments of this session. The unplanned moments when nothing is posed or planned are perfection. Just purely their love against some gorgeous, hazy back light. Liz and Dan's photos reflected exactly the kind, warm, loving people they are and I can't wait to head to Sedona to photograph their wedding this fall!
April and Miles are adventurous. The kind of people I love to wing a session with because they are up for anything. They have a kind of ease in new situations that lends a soft, natural feel in every photo. It was very clear to me right from the first click that their place of comfort is with in each others arms.
I don't think they could have chosen a more perfect spot for their session. The tones and textures paired with their love makes me swoon! Whether they were snuggled up among reclaimed wood in an old barn (I guess you could call it that! haha!) or dancing on an abandoned road, they were up for having fun. It shows! I cannot wait to photograph these two again at their wedding in June!
